Allendale
Allendale is a traditional North Pennine village situated 10 miles South of Hexham, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The North Pennines have recently won the status of Geopark. The river East Allen runs through the village and provides the setting for one of many stunning walks in the area. The village is surrounded by fells and open moorland, covered in heather and provides an opportunity for solitude and peaceful contemplation. Allendale boasts a number of public houses, a gift shop, a bank and several other shops and is within easy traveling distance of Hadrian's Wall for those wishing to explore Northumberland's historic past.
